Background
This compilation is a 23-track various-artists release on Unit Records (UTR 5000), out March 1997, a sampler of the Swiss jazz scene. Unit Records is a non-profit Swiss label founded 1983 in Bern by Jurg Solothurnmann, Hans Kennel, Paul Haag and Urs Blochlinger; around 1996 directed by Lucas Niggli. Acts include Alpine Jazz Herd, Kieloor Entartet, Werner Ludi, Michel Wintsch and others. Michael Gassmann appears on track 12, Campo, by the quartet Gassmann-Battaglia-Zwiauer-Gatto (Gassmann trumpet, Stefano Battaglia piano, Roberto Gatto drums), the quartet behind the album An Italian Affair on Unit Records. Campo is an excerpt of that project, the source of the TrackAppearance credit.
