No dedicated critical review of "Originaria" (Stefano Battaglia Theatrum, Symphonia, 2003) was found in any of the usual jazz outlets. Searches of AllMusic, All About Jazz (English and Italia), JazzTimes, Down Beat, Musica Jazz, JazzConvention and the Swiss/German/Italian jazz press returned no album-specific critique — only catalog entries (Discogs, jazzmusicarchives, Apple Music) and retailer/label descriptions. AllMusic and All About Jazz pages for related Theatrum titles (Mut(e)azioni, Rito Stagionale) and the jazzmusicarchives artist page returned HTTP 403 to the bot, so any capsule text they may host could not be confirmed. The only evaluative, non-catalog text located is promotional/concept copy carried by the Italian retailer soundandmusic.com (drawn from the label/Siena Jazz blurb): it frames the album as Battaglia leading a 16-piece ensemble into "the vast realm of life's origins and myths," reached through the permanent musical-research laboratory he runs at Siena Jazz. This is label-origin marketing language, not independent criticism. Net: the record exists in databases and was noticed within the Siena Jazz / Theatrum orbit, but there is no traceable press reception or rating beyond a single unexplained 5/5 Discogs user score. Thin coverage is the honest and expected result for a small-label, limited-run Italian art-jazz date that went out of print by 2006.

SYO 02712 / barcode 8012783027121; out of print by 2006. All compositions by Stefano Battaglia. Produced by Siena Jazz with Roberto Meo and Sigrid Lee; Meo also recording engineer and designer; Lee handled recording supervision and digital editing; cover photography by Caterina Di Perri. "Theatrum" is the large-ensemble (about 16 players) outgrowth of the Laboratorio Permanente di Ricerca Musicale that Battaglia has directed at Siena Jazz / Accademia Chigiana since 1996. Listed personnel includes Michael Gassmann on trumpet (his role here: Appearance) alongside reeds (Mirco Mariottini, Stefano Franceschini, Daniele Malvisi, Filiberto Palermini, Mirko Guerrini), flutes (Isabelle Lehmann, Stefano Agostini), Sabrina Giuliani (viola), basses (Nino Pellegrini, Tiziano Negrello), and percussion/drums (Riccardo Ienna, Alessio Riccio, Matteo Cigna, Michele Rabbia), with Battaglia on piano and percussion. The album sits among Battaglia's Symphonia/Theatrum-era large-ensemble works (e.g., Rito Stagionale, Mut(e)azioni I-XV); Battaglia later moved to ECM (Raccolto, Re: Pasolini, Pastorale, Pelagos).
